Homecoming Parade

The kids got out early on Friday for the homecoming parade downtown. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I drove downtown to get a parking spot. There was actual….. traffic. Seriously! I counted 15 cars in a two block radius.

October_0095It was absolutely freezing for the parade. It was in the low 20’s with a biting wind. That is my oldest son’s friend on the left. Sometimes I can close my eyes and picture them as teenagers already!

Parade 1A friend painted the boys faces as we waited in the bank lobby for the parade to begin. There was quite the gathering in the bank!

October_0102It was a great little parade in spite of the biting cold. There was the usual fire engines, tractor, band and class floats. And then there was this…..

October_0113 It was a bag pipe band. In kilts. Burrrr. They came down from Canada to be in our little parade.

Parade 2 And then an old car came by and I felt like I was transported decades back. It was a great parade. Even greater to get back in the bank and count all that loot.

Candy loot that is!

Brrr and here I am thinking it's cold and it's 60 here. Was this for a high school homecoming - love how the town comes together.

I love parades, sounds like you had a great time.

There are so many times when I wished we lived in a smaller town that did these fun things! I miss it! Wow...it is really cold there and early! Brr! Our homecoming is this Friday, but no big parade (tear!), so we will go to the pre-game festivites and then the game. They will walk the 'floats' around the track during half time! How is football season going for your guy? I want to see some pics!!!!

I don't think I would have wanted to be cold watching the parade but I am sure my kids would have loved something like that.

It's getting cold here too, and we've had snow for the 3rd day in a row! I'm from a small town and love the closeness, you can't beat it. The last photo is a classic, very nice!

I can the feel the cold..LOL.. That was a very nice parade though.. Our parades here in the Philippines are not like that.. We though have colorful street dancing during festivities.

It sure looks fun and the photos are just well taken..

Looks like a wonderful time. I love parades, too... they are a true symbol of hometown and good neighbors, especially in rural communities. Your boys looked like they were having a blast.

Your boys pix's were great, lots of memories came flashing back, I have 3 sons (grown Now) I remember bundling them all up to go out and play in the snow. God bless you and your family
