Thirty something

Yesterday was my birthday and although Lineman couldn’t be home, I decided to make it a nice day anyway!

I picked up the kids from school and then we went to the ……….

 Birthday 4

Bowling alley!  They have ten lanes there and thankfully the end lanes have bumpers.

Birthday 1

We even let Little Man give it a try.  He wears a size 7 and all they had were size 11 shoes, you should have seen him walking in them, it was hysterical!

Birthday 2

I tried to catch these two in a silhouette, Little Man was happy to let his older brother help him.  Love the “head tilt” my oldest has going on, he did that every time!

Birthday 3

What a good big brother!

Birthday 5

The Wild Child did pretty good too, he had lots of fun!

Birthday 8

The two older boys had a tie at the end of the game.  I was bummed out because I had some good strikes and spares and then in the 10th frame my thumb got stuck twice.  Still pretty good since I can’t remember the last time I bowled.

Then I went to a cute little store and found myself a pair of sunglasses.  Then we went to eat at a local pizza joint.  They throw the dough up in the air but I never could get a picture.  Then I headed over to DQ and got an ice cream cake.

Birthday 8

I had the boys sing Happy Birthday to me, it was really cute.  I really wish Lineman could have been here but I think it turned out to be a pretty good day.  My SIL sent me that cute little sign and the candy bouquet, gee, you think she knows I like chocolate! Mmmm.  I think I have a little package at the post office from my in-laws I’ll head over and  get it today.

I also got my birthday present from Lineman, he said I could pick out what I wanted on-line.  Uh, yeah I guess you could say I followed through on that one.  Hello B&H Photo, you are my friend!!!!

I had LOTS of birthday wishes on FB so that was sweet.  All in all a great day!

The easy way…

We bought an old snowmobile off tradio a few weeks ago for next to nothing.  Our oldest son calls it “old fashioned”.  Well, perhaps it is but I don’t think he’ll be complaining about it any time soon.  Have a look at our sledding hill.  It’s got to be all of 500 feet long with a few twists and turns.  By far the best sledding hill we’ve ever had!  February 230February 231

The kids fly down to the bottom and wait more than patiently for Lineman to show up.February 233 Then Lineman loads up the kids on the biggest sled that’s tied on to the back of the snowmobile.  Then he hauls them up the hill.  He’s got 4 kids with him there, Little Man in the front, the older two and a friend laying down on a sled.  Seriously, does it get any better or easier than that!February 238No sooner does he unhook the kids and they are heading back down the hill…..

February 241 Waiting to be picked up!

February 242 Lineman to the rescue again!

February 246 That old gal may be “old fashioned” but she sure gets the job done!

February 248 I think the kids have just as much fun coming up the hill as they do going down.  February 249 “Hey kids, you’re on your own for this one, we’re going home!”

Hoar Frost

No, I haven’t stopped blogging.  No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth.  I’ve been quite sick and taking care of sick kids.  Good news, I think we are all finally recovering. January 379 A few more hoar frost pictures for you to enjoy. January 383 This winter we’ve woken up to a hoar frost about 75% of the time.  It usually blows off mid day only to show up again in the morning.  I love it. January 386

shoot me 7

We are still sick here and on top of that I am now watching two little boys. I didn’t have a picture yet so today I set the camera up on the tripod, used the remote and set a long shutter speed. I was trying to capture the kids in motion while I was motionless. See that red blur? That’s Little Man! I’d like to try the set up again under better conditions.

Powdered Sugar

Frosty Day 2

A hoar frost that had been building for nearly a week.  Gorgeous.

The good news….. and bad

We went to the doctor.  Again.  February 148 Our middle son was still struggling very much with his pneumonia so we’ve added a neb to the mix of meds.

Good news!  It’s helping, all the meds have kicked it and he is recovering.

February 149 Bad news!  The other two boys are sick, I have a touch of it, Lineman has a touch of it.  Bad, bad news!  My mom got it really, really bad!  She was so sweet to come visit, lend a hand, and how do we say thank you?  With a bunch of viruses.  I wish we weren’t so good at sharing.  I hope she gets feeling better soon.  And I hope the rest of you are feeling good.  Make it a great Monday.

Shoot Me! 6 of 52

February 085Here I am working on my sons bedroom earlier this week. I had so much fun painting after finally finishing the mudding, light fixtures and more. Once I get the trim board up I’ll share the finished pictures.

I may not make it to all the blogs this go round. My middle son is still suffering with pneumonia and I fear the youngest is coming down with something. A mom’s work is never done.

pneumonia

Colter sick

Our middle son, Colter, has been having a very rough winter. It seems like he has been sick every other week. Well turns out he has pneumonia in both lungs with a plate of bronchitis on the side.

The doctor called me on my way home from the office to confirm his suspicions that he did in fact have pneumonia. We will have to go back in for steroids if he doesn’t improve with the meds we were given to treat the bronchitis.

I’m a bit frustrated with myself as well as the doctors we’ve seen. Colter has been “off” most of the winter. The last time we went in they said he had sinusitis and that was the cause of the coughing. Looking back now, I’m sure this entire time he has been struggling with pneumonia and his little body has just been fighting so hard. Well, at least now we know and we can deal with it the best we can.

Stalactites

Have you ever had the chance to go in a cave and see the stalactites and stalagmites?February 071

I’ve been thinking about out cave visits in the Black Hills where I learned all about the stalactites that slowly form down from the ceiling.  They can be so unique and interesting they way they form.

February 066

It’s dark in those caves, Lineman had to wear his prescription sunglasses in one of those caves and it just didn’t work out so well.   I guess when your forehead meets a low ceiling you couldn’t see because of your sunglasses one can get pretty upset.  But I digress.  Aren’t these stalactites impressive and unique!

February 068

Each with their own characteristics.

February 067

Ummm, I don’t remember the ceiling being green, or the perfect arch either.  Hmmm.

February 069

Oh, it’s my moms truck all covered in stalactites, er, I mean ice.  Hey, it was fun while it lasted.

White Gloves

My mom is here to visit for a few days.  She not the kind to wear white gloves when she gets here….February 081 She’s the kind that wears a paint brush.  I’m thankful for her help too!

The carpet comes today but I still have a bit more touch up paint, put my trim up around the doors, finish my light fixtures and put the doors back on.  Then the fun stuff, moving the bed and such in and decorating.  I’ll be sure to share the “after” pictures.

Shoot Me! 5 of 52

Shoot Me 5

I’m finally getting my act together and finishing the bedroom downstairs. I’ve been mudding for days it seems. You can see I have quite the little helper. I hope the mud comes out of clothes because he’s gotten into plenty of it. I shot this picture by using my tripod and remote. I also tried out my new light stand and umbrella. Now back to the room…. time to start painting soon.

Also, there are a few each week on MckLinky that don't have working links, if you're not sure leave a comment and I'll get back to you to help you on it.

Snug as a bug in a….

Hey there my Wild Child, watcha doin’? What’s that you say? Look in the big tub?January 796What’s in the tub anyway?

January 799Ohhh, so that’s the deal with Little Man! He will sleep anywhere as long as it’s not in his bed. I get it now!

January 798 And it looks like such a comfortable place too! Sans the neck ache I’d wake up with.January 801 So there ya have it…..

Snug as a bug in a TUB!!

Goalie Time

At the tournament my oldest son had been asking his coaches over and over and over again if he could play goalie.  He was ecstatic when he got to play goalie for the last game. Tournament 11 Here they are coming onto the ice.  He was so excited!  Tournament 13Ready for action!  tournament 12 SAVE!!!

Tournament 3The group photo of our Ice Dawgs mite team.  This tourney was just for mites ages 7-8, so our middle son didn’t play since he is a termite u-6.  It’s a great group of kids.  They all got medals and the team got a trophy to take back to our rink. Tournament 5They had a poster with each of the kids names written on hockey pucks.

Tournament 6 One last shot before we left.  They’re record at the tourney was 3 losses and 1 win.  All in all they had a great time.  As for the game he played goalie I know he had fun but I’m not sure I want him to pursue it since it’s a very expensive position.  But I’m glad he had the opportunity!
