Friday Photo Flashback ~ Halloweens past

Friday Photo Flashback

Several photos to flashback to today……

This is my brother and I again, maybe around 1977? What did I tell you about costumes back then. You used what you had. From now on that’s what we’re doing around here!

Here is my mom and I. Sorry you can’t see me too well but I have the blue hardhat on, suspenders, linebelt and line gafs on. Wow, I went as a “lineman”, very original, no? Well, I used what I had. I’m dancing with my mom who is wearing an apron with a tin mug and spoon tied around her. She went around clanging that dang mug and spoon and calling that chuck was ready… she went as “Camp Cook”, appropriate for a Bed and Breakfast owner.

Okay, here is my oldest son on his first Halloween. He is named after a mountain man so that’s what he went as. I made the outfit but it took THREE times, yes THREE times to get that blasted fringe on the outside. Then the little turkey tried to eat the fringe.

I think homemade costumes are the best! Hardly anyone does that anymore!

Your boys are the cutest, Carin!

How I love your Friday Flashbacks, and I was hoping this would be about Halloween! And it was! Love all the flashbacks...from you being little to Bridge being little. What fun you and I had dressing up for the dance down at the ol' Homestead. Hmmm...now for this Halloween????

What great flashback pics. You did a great job on your son's costume. I think they are more memorable when they're handmade. Hope you and your guys have a great Halloween!

Too cute!!! We decided this year that if they wanted to dress up and trick or treat then they had to find costumes around the house! Have a fun and safe Halloween..

Awesome! Homemade costumes are the best. I've nearly always done that. Boughten stuff is SO expensive, and so cheap! We have several tubs of "dress-up" stuff.

You are so right! Back when I was a kid you used a pillow case or your dad's old shirt and made a costume out of that. The most elaborate costume we ever wore was when my mom put me in my brother's sailor suit and hung a can of spinach around my neck. Can you guess who I was?
