Dizzy

I took the kids fishing and to the park early Saturday morning. We were out the door by 8:30. Why on earth am I telling you this? Because I am NOT a morning person. But I was determined to get out of this house. So I was out at 8:30... not too shabby for me on a weekend! The kids had a blast the whole time. I packed a picnic lunch that we had at the park.
I had to try my hand at getting some meri-go-round pictures. I had fun snapping away but let me tell you.... I HATE this piece of playground equipment. There is nothing that will get me sick faster than spinning around in a circle. Apparently my middle son feels the same way, he didn't even want to get near it!

All to himself

When Lineman makes it home there is a universal want among the boys. They want their dad all them themselves. Hey, I don't blame them. Mom gets pretty boring all week! When it comes to wanting dad all to himself, Little Man is no exception. In fact of all three boys he is the one who makes his wants known very clear.
Fishing last weekend he was content to just sit right by his dad. To be just like him. To mimic everything he did.

Just like dad.

He'll do anything he can to get dad all to himself!

Making it count

Now that we are somewhat settled after our move things have gotten back to the old routine. That is, Lineman has to go to work out of town. However, his current job site is actually close enough he can.... wait for it......

..... actually come home for a good weekend. Who would have imagined!

So what do we do on the weekends? We make 'em count, that's what we do! This was how we spent part of this last weekend. All the boys fishing, it's a wonderful thing.
Our still-black-eyed-boy has been asking his dad for a very long time to go fishing. He is certainly getting his chance lately!

The Little Man even enjoys this time. It's a rare occasion for him to sit still. He sat and played with a collapsible rod and a bobber for almost half an hour.

Last but not least our middle wild child who never stops going was quite content to sit quietly awaiting a nibble.

There wasn't a single fish caught this day but it didn't matter one bit. What mattered was that we made the best of the time we do have together.

havin' a blast

It was so much fun to get out and enjoy the fresh air while we all did some shooting. The Little Man was loving his time out there!

Who knew setting up the fallen cans would be so much fun? Even Koda was loving it!

Oh yeah, no doubt he was loving it.

Could it be spring days are actually upon us? It sure is feeling like.

Hmm, what is this at my feet?

A pair of .22 rifles, I wonder what these are for. Who am I kidding! Being a family means doing things together again. Saturday Lineman took the boys and I out for a drive. We loaded up two rifles hoping to see a gopher or two. We never saw any gophers but we did find some very frightened cans!
We drove out to the middle of nowhere. That didn't take too long! And then we all took turns shooting at the cans. Those cans were just shaking in their boots. Or not.

The boys were using Lineman's old .22. I believe it was given to Lineman when he was just a boy. I need to get that whole story from him. We have seen the little Cricket in town but haven't purchased one. Anyone out there have the Cricket or something like it?

That is big country, no? Maybe that's why it's called Big Sky Country?

Of course each of the boys wanted to try it. The middle boy only got to shoot just the once. Before we realized it the evening was waning and we had to go.

Up for this weekend.... fishing!

I think we are getting used to this "family" bit, don't you?

Winter Aerobics, Kid Style

This kid is here to show you how to get the ultimate winter workout. Your thighs will be burning. Your lungs will be begging you to stop. Here we go....

You'll need a trampoline and snow. Snow is really what gives you a burst on the aerobic activity.
It doesn't take much snow and you'll be feeling the burn in no time.

You need give it your all and try to jump as high as possible.

Even though you'll try to jump for the sky, you'll be lucky if you get even two inches off the trampoline. The snow is so heavy it will barely let you get any lift. Ahhhh, but your thighs and lungs will be feeling it!

The next time you have snow on a trampoline give it a try. Your thighs will hate you and your lungs won't know what hit them but think of the great exercise!

A new sport

Last winter Lineman was working in Durango, Colorado. Lots of snow, lots of mountains and a childhood memory of snowshoeing. He bought himself a new set of snowshoes and had a fun time last winter.

About a month ago I got a set for myself. Lineman went back to the store and got two more sets for each of the older boys. It was so much fun and let me tell you it is a workout! Our middle son went with his dad and had an absolute blast. Fun stuff I tell you!

Trampoline Shots

These next pictures are from last week.... Obviously, since we are now in sub zero temperatures and we just got more than 10 inches of snow. This is me doing the feet to back jump. Lineman's cousin taught me this when I was 19. I was young and fearless.... and didn't have aches and pains. Actually, I still don't have aches and pains. Something about carrying around 29 pounds on one hip while doing chores has made me immune to all aches and pains. However, if my sweet neighbor is reading this.... can I come soak in your hot tub? No reason. No reason at all. Nope, my back doesn't hurt. Nor does my neck. Really.
This is my sons friend. Not that anyone for even a remote second would think it was me. I don't think I was ever this skinny, not even at that age. Besides that, I could NEVER stretch. Seriously, I can't even touch my toes with straight legs. It's sad. I know. Moving on.
The sun was just gorgeous that evening.
What better time to try and "hold the sun".

Don't Faint...

Alternate Title: 30 Pounds on my back

Alternate Title: Hiking Hidden Falls

To start out, "Don't Faint" because it has been nearly a week since I have blogged. I have tried to blog daily for several months now, but golly, sometimes a girl can't just get it all done. Okay, this girl can't get it all done. But I'm tryin' here folks, I'm tryin'. And also "Don't Faint" because somehow I am in some of these upcoming pictures. You know there is a reason I am a photographer, so I'm not in the pictures!

My mom visited and we went for a 4 mile hike to Hidden Falls.

Here is the 30 pounds on my back. Actually little man weighs about 22 pounds but I'm adding on water, snacks and the pack.
This last picture is me wedging myself and the backpack for one beautiful picture. Sorry about that, but we thought it was pretty funny trying to wedge that backpack through. Don't say I didn't warn you about me being in a picture!
I told the boys to roll up their jeans so they could walk in the water and not get wet.
Yeah, so much for rolling up the jeans so they don't get wet. You would think I know my boys better than that by now. Actually, my oldest boy slipped on a rock and my mom caught it just as it happened.
That is the Hidden Falls behind the boys. I walked back there too and that water was ccccccold. I would like to go back in the early part of summer to see just how big the falls can get.

Yeah, the boys stayed really dry didn't they? And there is my awesome mom with the little man. Ah, a moment between grandparent and grandchild (Translation: Ah, a moment for mom to catch her breath for two seconds before she is ripped in twenty other directions simultaneously).

On the return trip it ended up raining on us. At first I was trying to jog to get back to the Suburban until I realized how refreshing the raindrops felt. Also, the jogging was tending to wake my passenger. Here he is before the rain started.

Boy doesn't that look comfortable? We don't have any pictures of us soaking wet because it was really raining by the time we finished up and we were eager to just crawl inside the Suburban. Great time all in all!

Flowers for Mom

With all the wild flowers blooming this time of year, it's a sure bet my boys will be picking bunches to give to me. Reminds me of a great western artist, Tim Cox. I love his stuff. One of his paintings is called Flowers for Mom. Maybe I should just blow one of these pictures up and I'll have my own "Flowers for Mom". I just adore watching them pick the flowers, so intent on getting the rights ones to give to me.

I got so many from this crop they wouldn't even fit in one vase. You won't hear me complain about that. The more the better. Now, if I could only get them to pick all the Russian Thistle.

Oh Give Me a Home......

Two of my children were born here in Wyoming. They were the 4th generation to be born in this great state. My other son was born in Montana, the other side of the family homesteaded in that beautiful state. Their Great Great Great Grandparents homesteaded in a wonderful home site in northern Wyoming that still remains where it began. Times were different back then. A slow pace, everyone was respectful of each other, agriculture was a way of life for all. Buffalo still roamed with the very last of a few wild herds. I was lucky enough to have these photos passed on from earlier generations.
How did they ever manage to get so close up to those Buffalo without being trampled to death? Maybe there was a large fence I, I mean, they stood behind. I went ahead and took the liberty of photoshopping out ear tags. I wasn't aware they had ear tags that many generations ago. None the less, how thankful I am to have these pictures of a simpler time in America.

Some Silhouttes

More sillhoutte pictures from the challenge. I had fun with this one of our dog, Koda. I only took just a few because it was so cold. Hello, did anyone know it is June? Feels like February to me. So we only stood out there for a brief moment to get this picture. This silhoutte has the moon in the upper left hand corner.
A Tee Pee near us. I shot this out the window of my Suburban where the heater was keeping us toasty. Again, is it June or February?

The Old Windmill

Okay, I am taking a bit of the easy road here. These are the same pictures I used on the photo challenge friends blog. The challenge was on silhouettes. Hey, I'm a busy mom to three boys and the beautiful outdoors calls my name. I've got to make it easy where I can.

This windmill is in the valley just below us. It makes for a great photo opp.
I saw the clouds start to take on beautiful colors one evening so I threw the kids into the Suburban and drove down to the old windmill. I crawled under the barb wire fence and ran out into the pasture. Imagine my amazement when I see three antelope willing to stay in my picture. "Thank you, Antelope." They are in the right side of the picture.
