Friday Photo Flashback ~ Skiing

Friday Photo Flashback

Old pictures_0069

I have no idea how old I am here, maybe 5? My folks had me on skis at age 2 and riding the lift at 3. I guess you could say it was in my blood early. I have so many great memories. Though I haven’t been skiing in 9 years now. Bummer.

Hey check out those awesome skis and bindings. You know those bindings! The ones that were attached to our legs so we wouldn’t lose them. The ones that were attached to our legs so when we crashed they flailed around us threatening concussion the whole way. Man I miss those bindings.

A few memories that stand out are tree skiing with my big brother, oh SO much fun. I can picture being with him and doing my best to follow, it’s still just as clear as day.

Another was when I was very young I sat down into the chair lift but it was really bumpy as it got going. It bumped and jumped so hard it threw me right out of the chair. My mom grabbed my arm at the last minute. So there we are, she’s hanging on for dear life to her little girl and I’m just dangling there. They stop the lift before our chair makes it to the first pole. I don’t know how high we were but they were yelling at my mom to drop me. She’s yelling back Noooooo! Finally I guess she dropped me and I landed on my head. I kid! I kid! I was just fine.

Wow crazy story! But the skiing part sounds like so much fun!

Oh I would have a serious fear of heights and skiing if I almost fell off a chair lift. I am glad you were ok.

Sounds like you and Lineman and the boys need a little ski vacation. I am sure they would be naturals. TGIF!

you have had such a great life! all your stories and pics from childhood seems so wonderful.

I haven't had a chance to comment but your last few pics were really cool especially the birds one. That seems like one you could frame in your home over the sofa or something...so pretty.

Carin I can just see that happening with your mom. Too funny. If you were skiing at age 2 then is it really that surprising that Little Man is on skates? I think not!!! ;)

I have only been on the ski lift once at Winter Park, CO. It was a beautiful trip to the top of mountain, but then I fell as I tried to get off the lift. To think falling off the lift wasn't the worst part. It took me 2 hours to get down. Of course TNT told me I didn't need lessons. Whatever!

You can always drop Little Man off by us. I would be happy to boy sit. But then you'd have to take the two cousins along of course :)WI~SIL

What a funny story! I am not a big height fan so I would have been scared. Have a great weekend!

THAT IS NOT FUNNY!!! I believed you missy and my heart was beating a mile a minute. Laughing now however!

Would you believe being born and raised in MT that I never learned to ski. :-( I know...feel sorry for me. My parent's didn't do it so we kids just didn't do it. Hope you get to hit a hill one of these years. Have a great weekend Carin!

LOL! My husband got yelled at for the same thing! Our daughter slipped off the lift right after she got on when she was 5 or 6 and he's half on and half off and they were telling him to get out of the way...they hadn't seen my daughter.

As for those bindings, I'm glad I'm not dealing with those.

Say, Carin, I am putting my order in for the book you need to write of your many, many, many stores about your life!! I can imagine the laughs I would get when reading it. I have to say that I really do enjoy riding a ski lift and I always managed to get off pretty gracefully, but I didn't win any medals for getting to the bottom very fast! I just needed to start that sport way earlier in life than I did!! Linda

Oh my gosh!!! No wonder your kids are so fearless!! It IS in their blood too!!!

I think that is so awesome when parents introduce sports to their kids at a young age.
