Friday Photo Flashback ~ Stilt Races!

Friday Photo Flashback

A little more flashback from the time we would spend at my mom’s B&B. Well, like I said last week, when it came the the B&B we had this in mind: work hard, play hard. We always did just that. There were three sets of handmade stilts at her place and we always put them to use.Old pictures_0007And our favorite thing to do was to have stilt races! Oh I loved stilt races! That’s Lineman there on the left with the red shirt talking to his cousin. I don’t think these two are even thinking about racing. More like talking about me and how crazy I am with all these ideas I have! Old pictures_0004So we would all line up on the hitching post and get ready. That’s me in the middle, I guess the long red hair gives me away. That’s Hanna from Germany on the left, and Lineman’s cousin, Wade on the right. Old pictures_0005I painted them colors one day. I guess I ran out of paint or steam because my pair obviously doesn’t match. I might have been known to try to push people over because it looks like I’m trying to knock over Wade there. But really I would never push someone over in a race.Old pictures_0006Ahhh! Victorious! It probably wasn’t too fair. I did have home field advantage. We also had “Stilt Fights” the winner being the person to stay on the longest. Man we had some great times.

Hey Lineman, next time you come home how about building some stilts!

Carin! You must be the funnest person to be around!! I can imagine how much fun your kids have with you!!!

I always wondered about stilts!!!! I would totally fall!! LOL!

OH..and rexing is like when you can smoothly put one skate in front of the other. Kinda like making an X. Does that make sense? LOL

Ha!

The only way she could EVER!! win is to cheat!! If she couldn't knoch you over then she'd try the big 'ol sad eyes and when that didn't work she'd drop her stilts and then run out and push you over!! So then she couldn't get up on her stilts without help and oh man what a whiner!! HEHEHEHEHEHE

fun times!

I love your adventerous spirit!! I am also laughing at Linemans comment! As seeing that I would probably be like you (just in the sad eye department), because I don't think I could even balance on stilts. You never cease to amaze me Carin!

I just love those pictures! Oh my word I want to have a stilt race. Somehow I think I might be sore afterwards. I mowed all around our property yesterday and I am feeling it. Yikes I guess I need to work out a little more, and spend less time on the compy. ha ha ha
I did end up meeting Wrena in real life at Chug. She came up to me and said that Carin says "HI." I thought and thought and thought...
Who's Carin? ha ha ha
Then I finally realized who she was talking about and I jumped and hugged her all at once. ;) I just feel like we all are the best of friends even if we never have met!!!! Kindred Spirits indeed!

Oh yes I remember the stilts!!
I had them as a kid and my sons also built them to have games on.

My daughter talked my husband into making stilts for her...she is crazy good on them. I've never thought about jumping on them myself, however. Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
