Snickerdoodles and patience

Grandma’s. They’re the best. They do things with their grandkids that moms are just too tired or not patient enough to do. Okay, MY mom does things with MY kids that I CLEARLY am not patient enough for.

Like baking cookies.September_0661She got them all going on it. The oldest stirred and balled the mix. Gramma rolled it.September_0662 The middle kid rolled it in sugar and handed it to the little one to place on the cookie sheet.

September_0672HEY!!! Place it on the cookie sheet, NOT in your mouth. Toddlers, you can never trust them.

September_0670 What a group of bakers. Good thing gramma’s are built for this sort of stuff.September_0663Look at that! There were even some that didn’t land in the Little Man’s mouth.

September_0674 And they were topped off with a candy corn because… because…. because gramma brought them and the boys insisted they go on top.

And me? Well I helped too!

I ate the cookies.

Burp.

Scooby Snack

CrackersandChaos

We went to eat in town last weekend at a neat restaurant downtown called Sanfords. Picture Applebee's on steroids or on WAY too much caffein, yup, there ya go! There is a back end of a truck sticking out of the front of the building, what a way to start.

Anyhoooooo..... my middle boy ordered a Scooby Snack. I thought it was just a PB&J, but what showed up was much cooler! A triple decker, grilled, oozing work of children's art! I started making them at home and they get D-vour-ed.

~~~Scooby Snack~~~
3 pieces of bread
peanut butter
grape jelly
butter
One layer of bread with lots of grape jelly, next layer of peanut butter (don't skimp here), top with last piece of bread and spread some butter on both outside pieces of bread. Grill it in a pan till nice and brown and the peanut butter is ooooooozing out.
Calories? What Calories?
I guess you could say I'd had enough of Bakerella and Pioneer Womans recipes and figured it was time to give them a try! So I jumped right in there, with no regard for calories, and made Bakerella's Cupcake Bites and Cake Pops. These were my spring inspired Cupcake Bites.
I think I'll call these the Three Stooges.
Of course I had to try the Cake Pops. I do believe these are lower in calories. It has something to do with the stick, it's a sort of draining of the calories down the sticks. Or not.
The tops of my Cake Pops. Would you believe I asked the kids to help with this. As soon as I started I changed my mind and said it would be better if they just helped EAT them instead. They were all over that!
I will say that they were way more time consuming that I would have thought. If you do these I might recomend making the cake the night before. Also, it would be way more fun with a friend. Anyone wanna come make Cake Pops with me?
You can get the recipe and see more Cake Pops and Cupcake Bites at Bakerella and Pioneer Woman. Have fun!
Here come the pounds!
Well, I finally broke down and tried out Bakerella's Cupcake Bites and Cake Pops. Bakerella got together with Pioneer Woman and did some baking... as I'm sure you all know. I figured I might as well give it a try... My Spring cupcake bites.
I like to call these guys the Three Stooges!
I gave a try at the Cake Pops too.
That's the top of the cake pops there. Would you believe I asked my kids to help me on this. As soon as I started I told them they probably should find something else to do and they could just eat them, that's how they can help. Phew.... good thing. I don't recommend this for the younger crowd.
All in all it was pretty fun. HOWEVER, it was way more time consuming than I would have ever imagined. So.... do the cake the night before maybe. And I would SERIOUSLY consider having a friend help you, it would be fun too.
You can check out Bakerella or Pioneer Woman for instructions on how to do this and see some of their handywork too.
Chicken in a Nest - Valentines Style
Nothing like a little Chicken in a Nest, Bulls-eye Egg, or whatever you like call it (what do you call it?). I made it for the boys and decided to give it a little Valentines Day flair. A heart cookie cutter and you are good to go.
